After dropping their season-opener against Angel City, Chicago Red Stars will be back in action on Sunday evening against KC Current. Chicago’s new head coach, Martin Sjogren, received a shocking welcome after overseeing a heavy 4-0 defeat at BMO Stadium. The game had a few bright spots, however, as Chicago created several attacking chances in the second half. Still, that wasn’t enough to overcome the attacking overload from Angel City.
KC Current, on the other hand, rallied in the second half to defeat Utah Royals 2-1 at home. Ally Sentnor and Croix Bethune scored to help KC Current come from a goal down to get the crucial victory. Despite the win, the 2025 NWSL Shield winners looked a bit shorthanded in attack without their back-to-back MVP Temwa Chawingo. The dangerous Malawian striker is still recovering from an abductor injury.
