After the conclusion of the Leagues Cup, the Chicago Fire's poor results have pushed them away from playoff hopes. However, mathematically they can still make a path forward but a win against Toronto FC is necessary. This is a critical match for Toronto FC as they are 8th in the play-in zone but they have one more game compared to the Philadelphia Union who are tied on points and CF Montreal who are two behind.

Betting sites are not too confident that Toronto can pull off a win away from home in Chicago as their form in MLS is terrible and only their fate is still in their hands thanks to a very good start. Between May 25 and July 6, Toronto FC played 9 MLS games of which they lost 7 and drew 2, sinking in the table. We would have to go back to April to date the last away win for Toronto FC in MLS.

Toronto FC have not made the playoffs since the 2020 season and have not won in Chicago since the 2021 season. Chicago Fire, however, have yet to string together two straight wins at Soldier Field, but they will have another chance after defeating New York Red Bulls 2-1.
