The Chicago Cubs look to take the series this afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals. After winning the first 2 games of this 4-game series, the Cubs faltered last night and left the door open for the Cardinals to steal one today and even the series up.

Alex Bregman and Nico Horner exploded in game one of the series. They combined to go 8-10 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 6 RBIs in the 7-3 victory. The Cardinals saved their bullpen in the loss by having starter Matthew Liberatore go 3.2 innings and Hunter Dobbins fill in for the rest of the game.

Bregman and Horner continued their production at the plate in game two and were accompanied by a handful of other Cub hitters. They tagged starter Michael McGreevy for 7 runs on 8 hits in just 1.2 innings. Three different Cub hitters went for multi-RBI games and starter Colin Rea picked up his 8th win of the season.

Last night, Dustin May of the Cardinals and the Cardinals bullpen quieted the Cubs bats through 9 innings. The game went scoreless as they headed into extra innings, where many believed the Cubs would take a 3-0 series lead after a Pete Crow-Armstrong homer broke the tie and gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead. However, the Cardinals fought back and used a 2-run double by Ivan Herrera to walk things off.
