The Milwaukee Brewers opened as slight favorites as they gun for a commanding 2-0 lead in their National League Divisional Series against the +102 road underdogs Chicago Cubs on Monday at American Family Field.
The series so far:
The Brewers drew first blood in the divisional series after storming to a 9-1 lead through the first two innings, scoring 6 in the opening inning. Jackson Chourio drove in three runs and Carson Durbin accounted for two RBIs in an explosive night for Milwaukee’s offense. Freddy Peralta pitched for 5.2 innings, surrendering two earned runs with nine strikeouts. The Cubs scored all their three runs on solo home runs. Michael Busch, Ian Happ and Nico Hoerner each belted a long bomb, but Matthew Boyd and Michael Soroka really struggled against the Brewers. Boyd was pulled out before he could finish the first inning after surrendering two earned runs while his replacement Michael Soroka conceded three earned runs, allowing the Brewers to run away with a sizeable early lead.
Starting Pitchers Matchup:
Cubs LHP Shoto Imanaga (9-8, 3.73 ERA): Imanaga is not in a good shape heading into Monday’s start vs. the Brewers. Imanaga conceded 8 earned runs over 5.9 innings in a 5-8 loss to the New York Mets on September 25. The Japanese hurler is also 1-2 in three starts against the Brewers this season, allowing an average 2.3 earned runs and 4.0 hits per game.
Brewers LHP Aaron Ashby (3 saves, 2.16 ERA): It looks like the Brewers will be utilizing their bullpen more by dispatching Ashby as their starter in Game 2. The Brewers posted the second-best ERA in baseball during the regular-season at 3.58 and their bullpen played a major part to their success.

Our Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
The Brewers have been outstanding at home during the regular season, posting a 55-29 record. Milwaukee has also gone 5-2 in their last 7 games at American Family Field. Meanwhile, the Cubs are 0-5 on the road and 2-5 SU in its last 7 games played in October, highlighting their struggles in their recent postseason campaigns. Milwaukee’s bullpen is one of the best in the MLB. On Monday, the Brewers will be trying to leverage the depth of their pitching staff by sending in their relief pitchers lead by Aaron Ashby, who is capable of containing the Cubs offense. I also don’t think Shoto Imanaga will be a game-changer for Chicago. Imanaga carries an underwhelming 6.51 ERA in his last five starts, while the Cubs bullpen has posted a 4.10 ERA in this year’s postseason.
Fearless Forecast: Milwaukee Brewers light it up again to score another dominant win at home, 10-5. Lock in on the Brewers at -120 because this team will not lose a home game in this series.
Our betting prediction for the Milwaukee Brewers vs. the Chicago Cubs: the Brewers will win.
