The Vegas Golden Knights (30-22-14) are trailing the Ducks by just 1 point for the lead in the Pacific Division. Saturday night, they face a team in a much different position. Their opponents are the Chicago Blackhawks (25-29-11), who are at the bottom of the Central Division standings. While they are in different spots in the standings, the last meeting between the teams ended in a 3-2 victory for the Blackhawks. Tyler Bertuzzi scored his 3rd goal of the game in overtime to pick up the home win.
Chicago started the month with a 1-3 record, but has since turned things around with back-to-back wins over the Utah Mammoth in a home-and-home. Oddly enough, both games ended in a 3-2 final, with both games going to overtime. They would like to avoid yet another overtime game, but will certainly take a win in any fashion.
The month of March has not been kind to the Golden Knights. They have won just 2 of their 7 games to this point. In the losses, they have combined for just 7 total goals. Without their offense putting up 3 or more goals, it has been extremely hard for this Vegas team to pick up lower-scoring wins lately.
Chicago has been playing under the total lately, and that could be an issue for this Vegas team, which has trouble getting their footing on offense lately.
