The Atlanta Hawks host the Charlotte Hornets today. Atlanta has had a strong run of play in November and sits with a 9-7 record. They opened the month cold but then won five consecutive games (including victories over San Antonio in double overtime and Washington by wide margins). In those wins, the Hawks were led by balanced scoring and efficient ball movement. Recently, Atlanta slipped in back-to-back games (a home loss to Detroit and a road loss at San Antonio), but overall their form is solid – they have outscored opponents collectively in November.
The team has been characterized by high-scoring games on either end, but at their peak they have broken 130 points (e.g., in wins at Sacramento and Utah). Charlotte, on the other hand, remains in freefall. The Hornets are 4-11 and riding a seven-game losing streak. They could not respond well to Atlanta's earlier push (Charlotte lost both regular-season meetings in October). Their defense has been unable to contain opponents, often allowing 115–140 points.
The first meeting between these teams was a blowout in Atlanta (Hawks 127, Hornets 112) in early November. In that game the Hawks excelled on the boards and shot a high percentage, while Charlotte struggled from outside and had no answer. Barring a drastic reversal, Charlotte's poor run and Atlanta's home-court momentum favor the Hawks again.

Our Charlotte Hornets vs Atlanta Hawks Prediction
On the Hawks, point guard Trae Young is the engine. He averages about 18 points and 8 assists, orchestrating the offense and shooting from deep. In recent games, Young has had double-digit assists multiple times (e.g., 11 assists vs. Detroit) and is a threat to explode for 30+ when he gets hot. Forward Clint Capela is Atlanta's paint presence; he scored 32 and 27 points in two of their wins, consistently grabbing double-digit rebounds and averaging around 11 boards. His finishing around the basket makes the second chance points for Atlanta. Rookie Malaki Branham and veteran Malik Beasley have also contributed scoring off the bench, but Young and Capela are the cornerstone duo.
For Charlotte's squad, the top figures are similar to earlier. LaMelo Ball leads the team in assists (~9.6 per game) and chips in 21 points per game; he had a breakout performance with 38 points and 13 assists in one October win. Miles Bridges remains Charlotte's leading scorer (around 22 points per game) and rebounder, providing slashing drives and mid-range shooting. However, neither Ball nor Bridges has been able to lift the Hornets out of their slump. The depth beyond them (Conlon, Sexton, etc.) has not been enough to change the tide.
The Hawks have the advantage. Atlanta's recent offensive outbursts and solid rebounding should overcome Charlotte's stagnant form. The Hornets, having lost badly the last time in Atlanta and still missing a needed spark defensively, will likely struggle again. Our prediction for Atlanta Hawks vs. Charlotte Hornets: Over 234.5 points.
