Celta Vigo, who until now had a season exceeding expectations, are seeing it crumble in part due to their defensive permissiveness.

The Galician side is reeling after losing 3-0 to Freiburg in the Europa League quarterfinals, but in La Liga they suffered an equally catastrophic result, losing 0-3 at Balaídos against the bottom-placed team in the Spanish league, Real Oviedo.

This setback comes as Freiburg has had a more consistent season. A goal from Holer allowed them to beat Mainz 0-1, keeping them in eighth place in the Bundesliga. The ultimate goal for them is to qualify for the Europa League. Goals from Grifo, Beste, and Ginter against Celta make the second leg seem like a mere formality. Celta Vigo has never in its history overturned a tie after losing by such a large margin in the first leg, but Freiburg will have to try to avoid continuing the recent shaky form of German teams when playing on Spanish soil.

After his standout performance against Valencia, the 22-year-old Swede Willot Swedberg underperformed in the next two matches, including defeats against Freiburg and Real Oviedo. But he wasn't the only one; Celta's forward line offered little to nothing in those games.
