The Carolina Panthers (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) visit the Las Vegas Raiders (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) after providing the textbook example of how not to run a football team for the past two weeks. Really, Carolina has been a mess for years, but the Panthers appear to have already given up on Bryce Young after just 18 starts.
The Panthers are spinning this as a timeout rather than a demotion, but the fact remains that benching a young quarterback — especially one who’s playing without much help at all — is one of the best ways to destroy their confidence. Of course, the Raiders kind of did the same thing with Aidan O’Connell, but there’s a difference between the No. 1 overall pick you traded for and a fourth-round selection. Carolina bet everything on Young; O’Connell was a lottery ticket.

Vegas seems to be going in the right direction, while Carolina appears stuck in neutral at best. The Raiders at least have a quarterback they can count on to not lose the game, and they have a pretty solid defense that’s held nine of 10 opponents to 23 points or less (and the one was Kansas City).
The Panthers have looked disinterested from the word go. They barely competed in Week 1 against New Orleans and were somehow even worse against the Chargers in Week 2. This team has been bad in every facet of the game, scoring 13 points in its past four games while allowing 108. You don’t have to do the math to know that’s incredibly poor and will lead to a lot of losses. Our prediction for Carolina vs. Las Vegas is Raiders -5.5.
