Zhou is coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the Shanghai Challenger, beating ATP Main Tour campaigner Yoshihito Nishioka 2-6 7-6(5) 2-0 ret. and Renta Tokuda 6-1 6-2 before falling to Yi Zhou of Taiwan 6-4, 1-6, 6(5)-7 in the quarterfinals. Zhou is 16-20 on the hard court this year.
