The Seattle Kraken kicked off their campaign with an impressive 6-1 road win over the Calgary Flames and will attempt to beat the same opposition on home ice at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday. The Flames lack offensive talent and could struggle to score again.
In Thursday’s season opener, Seattle rocked the Flames with three first-period goals and didn’t concede any until midway through the third period. The Kraken extended their winning streak to three games in this matchup. Impressively, Seattle has limited Calgary to two or fewer goals in each win.
Calgary's offensive challenges are expected to persist this season, with Morgan Frost as the team’s first-line center. He has never managed more than 43 points in a single NHL campaign and would be limited to a third-line role on many teams.
Seattle is known as a gritty team that doesn’t shy away from a defensive style of play. With the likes of Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, and Brandon Montour, they have a strong defensive unit.
