The Pittsburgh Penguins head out for a seventh consecutive victory on Saturday against the Calgary Flames at PPG Paints Arena.

Only a few weeks ago, the Penguins were slumping their way out of the postseason race, losing eight consecutive games. However, they have been like a different team since the holiday break, recording their longest winning streak since December 2022.

Pittsburgh has been on the rise since the end of 2025, and the team received another boost on Thursday night with the return of Evgeni Malkin. After missing 15 games with an upper-body injury, Malkin didn’t need much time to regain his rhythm, scoring a power-play goal in a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Russian star now boasts three goals and three assists through his last three appearances.

It’s a meeting between a streaking team and a slumping side. The Flames have lost four games in a row, scoring just six goals in the process. The team wrapped up 2025 with a 5-1-0 run, but nothing has worked for them in January.

Generating offense has been challenging for Ryan Huska’s men all season, as Calgary averages only 2.55 goals per game. The team has a shockingly poor power play at 13.9 percent and has landed only 8.6 percent of its shots on net.
