Bryce Mithell (18-4-0) was initially scheduled to fight Victor Henry this Saturday, but is now fighting Santiago Luna (8-0-0) after Henry withdrew due to undisclosed reasons.
Luna is a 21-year-old prospect who is now in line for a tremendous opportunity against a recognizable UFC name in just his 3rd UFC fight. Luna has fought the majority of his fights in smaller promotions but has picked up two wins to begin his UFC career. He defeated Quang Le by KO/TKO in his debut in just under 3 minutes in the 1st round. He then picked up a unanimous decision victory in February over Angel Pacheco. He will now face his toughest opponent here against Mitchell.
Bryce Mitchell has always been a controversial figure outside of the octagon, but he has always gone about his business in the octagon in a professional manner. It has been a rocky 3-year stretch for him. He took 3 losses in his last 6 fights, but they all came against some top-tier opponents. His submission losses came to Topuria, the current champion, and Jean Silva, who is ranked 6th in the division. He was also KO’d by Josh Emmett, who is 15th and has arguably the most powerful hands in the division. He is coming off a solid performance against Said Nurmagomedov back in July.
