After last season's debacle, a 2-2 start was a step in the right direction for the Pacers. But that start has quickly devolved into a mess as injuries have decimated the roster. The return of Tyrese Halliburton was short-lived, as a hamstring injury has him sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Ivica Zubac and T.J. McConnell have missed time and are out today. Aaron Nesmith and Obi Toppin are game-time decisions. Indiana will be going for its first home win of the season.
Despite all of the injuries the Pacers are dealing with, the Nets are still underdogs for this game (+3.5). Yes, I know that the Pacers just pounded the Nets a few days ago. However, that team had a different dynamic with Halliburton in the lineup. Yes, they scored 125 in the recent loss to Miami. But that doesn’t give me much faith in their ability to score without their best player and with so many guys injured and banged up. At the same time, the Nets have struggled to find and maintain a respectable level of play on the offensive end. I expect the Pacers to win despite the injuries against a bad Nets team, but I’m not counting on either team to score much.
