An all-London clash in store as Brentford welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the GTech Community Stadium for their opening Premier League match of the 26/27 campaign. The Bees enjoyed a fantastic campaign last time out as they achieved a joint-highest EPL finish, taking ninth place. For Spurs, they were fighting a relegation battle all season and required a final day win over Everton to secure their PL spot. Much more is expected of Tottenham this season and they've made a number of big name signings including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul Van Hecke. All three are expected to make their full debuts in this game.
Some are expecting Brentford to struggle this season, but write them off at your peril. The teams around them are strengthening, but the Bees have a great mix of youth and experience and should have another solid season.
Both teams have enjoyed solid preseasons, with Brentford convincing winners against Rennes and Eintracht Frankfurt, with Spurs winning three and drawing three of their last six friendlies. Tottenham have a fantastic record against the Bees, their only defeat against Brentford in the EPL came in 2023. Since then, Spurs have won five and drawn two of the last seven head-to-heads. For our prediction, we think Spurs will continue this record and come away from the GTech with all three points.

While Spurs endured an awful season last time out, we're expecting them to be challenging for European places come the end of the 26/27 campaign. For us, that will start with a win away in their EPL opener. They've strengthened massively, with further signings due, this will be a much more productive season for the North London side. Brentford should have a solid season too, but this new-look Tottenham side are likely to have too much for the Bees in their opening fixture.
