On Sunday, one of the more intriguing Round-of-16 ties will take place. Brazil and Norway will lock horns in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where one team will be sent packing and one team will reach the quarter-finals.
For the Brazilians, the Round-of-32 was far from smooth sailing, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men found themselves behind against a rather capable Japanese team. Thanks to a second-half turnaround, which included a stoppage-time winner, the men in yellow are still in contention, but they may need to sharpen up a little if they’re going to go all the way.
The Norwegians also needed a late winner to overcome the challenge of the Ivory Coast during the previous round, and they too will need to improve if they’ve got their sights set on a deep run. With both showing lots of offensive quality but at the same time floundering a little defensively, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ appeals in the betting.

Brazil - Norway: Form Analysis
The Brazilians weren’t overly tested during the groups, let’s be honest. Sure, they wobbled a little early on against the Moroccans, before steadying themselves to earn a share of the spoils, before then beating both Haiti and Scotland without getting out of second gear. That was all very routine from Carlo Ancelotti’s men. During the Round-of-32, though, they needed to show more, especially in terms of fighting spirit, and that’s exactly what they did; off the back of that effort, they should be more battle-ready.

The same can be said for the Norwegians, who were always expected to finish in second place behind the fantastic French, and that’s what they did, beating both Iraq and Senegal in high-scoring fashion. They, too, were tested in the first knockout round, needing a late goal from Erling Haaland to make it through. Having shown plenty of determination there, they should be ready for this tricky test.

Brazil & Norway Squad Analysis
It would be wrong to say that Carlo Ancelotti got it spot on with his starting XI against Japan, so we could see a couple of Brazilian changes ahead of this game. It’s clear that the experienced coach has been going for a blend of youthful exuberance and experience, but he may want to add more legs in midfield, and that could mean bringing in the high-energy Danilo Santos. Gabriel Martinelli scored as a substitute last time out but is not expected to start here.
Patrick Berg started for only the second time of the tournament and picked up his second assist, so he should once again feature prominently, as will lively winger Antonio Nusa, who scored a fine goal last time out.
We likely won’t see Norway boss Ståle Solbakken make many changes ahead of this clash, even if his team weren’t quite at their best against the Ivory Coast. Patrick Berg started for only the second time of the tournament and picked up his second assist, so he should once again feature prominently, as will lively winger Antonio Nusa, who scored a fine goal last time out.

Our Brazil vs Norway Prediction
This is a game between two teams that are reasonably top heavy, so we should expect to see no shortage of offensive quality, though we probably shouldn’t be looking to see much defensive sturdiness. After all, both teams have scored plenty of goals at this tournament, but in relevant games, neither team has shown much in the way of defensive discipline.
All four of Norway’s games at this tournament have produced at least three goals, with the Norwegians scoring and conceding in each of those four. That stat alone makes odds of +110 look quite lenient.
Our Brazil vs Norway Pick: Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams Score.
