The five-time champion, the most successful team in World Cup history and the only country to have participated in every edition, Brazil, began the tournament ranked #6 in the FIFA rankings and sixth in the bookmakers' odds to lift the trophy in New York. However, in that same stadium, in front of 80,000 fans, they drew their opening match in Group C 1-1 against the formidable Moroccan side. Ancelotti and his team are now focused on Haiti.
The draw against Morocco didn't cause too much alarm among the Brazilian press, as they acknowledge that the African team is one of the heavyweights of modern football. What did happen, however, was that Brazil revealed a weakness they had been carrying since one of their poorest World Cup qualifying campaigns: their inability to create danger when opponents are well organized defensively. In fact, perhaps Brazil's best moment in the previous match was when they were losing between the 21st and 32nd minutes, precisely when Vinícius scored the equalizer. Otherwise, we didn't see too many glimpses of Joga Bonito, but it's also true that Morocco didn't dominate them either.
Later, Haiti played and certainly put on a respectable performance; even in the friendlies leading up to the World Cup, the Caribbean team had already shown they shouldn't be underestimated when they thrashed New Zealand. In their return to the World Cup after a 52-year absence, they lost to Scotland, but the Europeans were barely holding on at the end, and if their Haitian side had been a bit more clinical in completing that final pass, they surely would have drawn.

Brazil - Haiti: Form Analysis
Brazil leaves behind the most demanding group match and hopes to show a different side next Friday in Philadelphia against Haiti. After what happened against Morocco, the immediate message that coach Ancelotti and captain Marquinhos wanted to convey was a call for calm. Before the World Cup, in friendlies at the Maracanã against Panama and in Cleveland against Egypt, Brazil did indeed display a blistering attack.
Brazil's best moment against Morocco came when they focused their attack down the wings, Vinicius' natural habitat, where he used his dribbling skills and a powerful shot to score. However, after scoring, Brazil's superstar barely touched the ball again in the opposition's penalty area; he himself misplaced many passes and frequently lost possession, but this behaviour was the pattern for both teams throughout the match.
Brazil will face less organization and more space to exploit when they face Haiti. Scotland capitalized on the opportunity, and with a counter-attack, laying off a low pass to a player arriving from behind, the Europeans scored against the Caribbean side.
Haiti showed some positives in Massachusetts, such as their ability to deliver precise passes into open space or to quickly dribble past opponents. However, when they lost possession, their defense was often disorganized and they pressed the Scots relentlessly.

Brazil & Haiti Squad Analysis
The Brazilian press has shared its player-by-player impressions after the match against Morocco. First, Bruno Guimaraes' performance in midfield was praised, not only for bringing order to the team but also for stifling Morocco's attack and preventing them from gaining momentum.
In central defense, Marquinhos won 3 aerial duels, completed 4 passes from deep to the forwards, attempted 79 passes and completed 75, and the Brazilian captain, a defender for PSG, was highlighted as one of the Seleção's most reliable players.
Brazil's final third, the most criticized
Vinícius Jr. did have his moments of brilliance, breaking lines or dribbling past defenders, which is what the match needed; he scored a crucial goal, but the Real Madrid star didn't leave much of an impact beyond that. Raphinha played between him and Paquet. However, the Barcelona player was one of the most criticized, along with Rodrygo, for some poor passing decisions and his inability to make runs off the ball.
Ancelotti has Endrick on the bench, and several players were calling for the electric teenager to come on. The camera also focused a few times on the national team's icon, Neymar, about whom Ancelotti said that "his physical condition has improved" and that he might be able to provide the beautiful game the team has been missing.

Our Brazil vs Haiti Prediction
Bookmakers are offering exorbitant odds of around +2000 for an unlikely Haiti victory against Brazil. This is one of the many group stage matchups with a clear disparity that this World Cup offers.
Brazil won't have the same defensive block that Morocco put up against them in New York. Instead, we expect to see a Haitian team defending deep in Philadelphia, against whom the five-time champions should play several through balls to the wings. Indeed, a rout is predicted.
Our prediction for Brazil vs Haiti is: Over 3.5 goals.
