An exciting Flyweight Division matchup will headline this weekend’s UFC Fight Night. Brandon Royval (17-8-0) will take on Manel Kape (21-7-0) in what could be a deciding fight for the next contender to the title.
Royval has gone 2-3 in his last 5 fights. However, those losses came at the hands of the former champion Alexandre Pantoja and the newest champion, Joshua Van. The latest loss to Van showed that Royval may be a step behind the top of the class in the division. It was a unanimous decision, and Van tagged him up pretty good throughout the fight. He is going to need to bounce back here against Kape, or he will find himself dropping out of his current #2 spot in the Flyweight rankings.
Manel Kape has been tremendous over his last 2 fights. He finished both Bruno Silva and Asu Almabyev in the 3rd round by KO/TKO. Those wins have vaulted him into this position to take on Royval. With a win, he could be putting himself in the contender conversation. With Pantoje being injured, Tatsuro Taira could be in line for the next shot, but Kape would not be far behind.
This will be a battle of two southpaws who love to stand and exchange. This main event may be the fight of the night as well.

While both fighters have strong boxing skills, we believe the difference is going to be the power that Kape possesses in his hands. We believe this fight will be similar to how the fight between Royval and Van went, and see Kape using his power and speed to his advantage in the standup striking game. Royval’s only strategy we see is trying to take Kape deep into the 5th round, where he has never been before. However, we believe Kape has the cardio to make it and could even pull off the finish before the 5th.
