The men’s third-round matches are coming fast and furious at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships! Among Saturday, July 5’s highlights is a clash between American Brandon Nakashima and Italian Lorenzo Sonego as they fight for a place in the Round of 16.
Nakashima has made it to the third round at this Grand Slam for the second year in a row. Despite dropping a set in each of his first two matches, he managed to knock out China’s Yunchaokete Bu and American Reilly Opelka in succession. These wins come as no surprise given Nakashima’s recent form, he had already strung together back-to-back victories at the Stuttgart and London tournaments. Now he faces the challenge of trying to notch a third consecutive win on grass for the first time this season.
Sonego, meanwhile, entered this Grand Slam with a much less encouraging record, having been knocked out in the first round at Stuttgart and the second round exits at Halle and Eastbourne. However, he’s now won back-to-back matches on grass for the first time this season, defeating Jaime Faria and Nikoloz Basilashvili to reach the third round here.
