Brandon Nakashima will duke it out with compatriot Reilly Opelka on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the third round of the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Nakashima barged into the second round with a four-set win over Bu Yunchaokete of China 6-4 4-6 7-6(1) 6-4. Coming off quarterfinal stints at the Boss Stuttgart and HSBC Championship, Nakashima sustained his fine play on the greens as he dotted his Chinese foe with 21 aces and 67 first-serve points. He also captured three breakpoints, including a service break in the fourth set that allowed him to put away Yunchaokete for good.
Opelka swept Alexander Shevchenko of Kazakhstan 6-3 7-5 7-6(4) in the first round of the 2025 Wimbledon Open. Opelka picked up his 7th win on grass this year after putting on a serving clinic, landing 19 aces and winning 77 percent of his first serves. Opelka yielded a couple of service breaks, but he offset with four breakpoint conversions.
