The main event for this weekend’s UFC Fight Night is between two flyweights who are set up to put on one hell of a show. Both Brandon Moreno (23-9-2) and Lone’er Kavanagh (9-1-0) have a serious stand-up striking game. But there a few things that separate the fighters.
Kavanagh finished 4 of his 6 opponents before an impressive knockout in Dana White’s Contender Series that earned him a UFC contract back in August of 2024. Kavanagh picked up back-to-back unanimous decision victories before being flatlined by Charles Johnson in his last fight. It will be interesting to see how the youngster bounces back here against arguably a tougher and more seasoned opponent in Moreno.
Brandon Moreno is also coming off a TKO loss to Tatsuro Taira. It was the 1st time that Moreno had finished in his 34-fight career. That said, it was a bit controversial. Even Daniel Cormier said that it was likely stopped a bit early. Now, Moreno needs to dig deep and put up a strong performance here, or he will likely fall out of the top 10 in the division rankings. He currently sits in 6th place in the rankings, but with a win here against a strong young prospect, Moreno could get another top 5 opportunity later this year.
The 1st round of this fight should tell us a lot about the way this one will go. If Kavanagh shies away and allows Moreno to dictate the pace, it is going to be a very uphill battle for the prospect.

Our Brandon Moreno vs Lone'er Kavanagh Prediction
Brandon Moreno does not seem to be the same fighter he was when he was making his way to his 1st title shot. That said, we believe that he will use his experience and what he learned from Kavanagh’s loss to Johnson to his advantage. You could hear Johnson’s corner encouraging him to press Kavanagh, and that is what he did to pick up the KO victory. We expect Moreno to push the pace and use his cardio to put the youngster in an uncomfortable position. The easiest path to victory for Moreno would be to grind this out and pick up a decision victory, but we will simply pay the price for the money line in the case that he can finish Kavanagh.
Our prediction for Brandon Moreno vs Lone’er Kavanagh: Brandon Moreno to win -215
