The Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins will face off in a Stadium Series matchup on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The two Atlantic Division rivals will meet for the second time this season, with the Bruins looking for revenge for a 4-3 home defeat suffered in October. Boston kept Nikita Kucherov at bay, but Anthony Cirelli scored two first-period goals, and the hosts couldn’t find a way out of the early hole.
Losing to Tampa Bay kicked off an early-season six-game losing streak for Boston. A similar skid followed in December, but the Bruins have been in top form since the turn of the year. In January, Marco Strum’s side posted an 11-2-1 record.
The Lightning were also red-hot in January, going 11-1-1. It was a remarkable feat, as their No. 1 defenseman, Victor Hedman, missed the entire month. On Sunday, Hedman is expected to make his first appearance since Dec. 9. The return of the 2018 Norris Trophy winner is sure to provide a boost for Jon Cooper’s team.
While the Lightning will welcome back a key player at Raymond James Stadium, the Bruins will be without two important pieces. Elias Lindholm and Pavel Zacha were both hurt this week, leaving Boston without its top two centers.
