The No. 25 Boise State Broncos will get the 2025 college football season underway in Tampa on Thursday, Aug. 28, when they take on the South Florida Bulls at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST. Fans can follow the game on ESPN.

All eyes will be on Boise State, of course, as the Broncos learn how to navigate playing without a powerhouse like Ashton Jeanty in the backfield anymore. Jeanty production and presence can’t be replaced, of course, but the Broncos have a talented running back room ready to make its own mark. As the running back room gets sorted out, the offense may lean a bit more on veteran quarterback Maddux Madsen. Defensively, the talent is there, much like it was last season, but Boise State will need to figure out how to avoid getting off to a slow start like last year. As for South Florida, hope is in the air for the Bulls after two straight 7-6 seasons. Having quarterback Byrum Brown back will certainly help get the offense on track sooner rather than later. But the bigger issue for the Bulls will be whether their rebuilt defense can come together enough in Week 1 to keep the Boise State offense from getting on track.
