The Copa del Rey round of 16 continues with an all-La Liga clash between Betis Sevilla and Elche on Wednesday at the Estadio de La Cartuja. The home side are looking to shine in all competitions this season. Currently sixth in La Liga, Betis Sevilla is in contention for European qualification, even though it has not won in its last two games. It is also well on its way to reaching the round of 16 of the Europa League, as it is in the top eight of the league phase. The Andalusian club is also still in contention in the Spanish national cup. Having beaten Palma del Rio (1-7), Torrent (1-4), and Murcia (0-2), Manuel Pellegrini's team is looking to continue its winning streak this week.
However, they will have to be wary of Elche. Their next opponent is still having an excellent season after being promoted to the top flight of Spanish football. They are in 9th place in La Liga after their first 19 games. Although they have not won their last two games, they are determined to bounce back at the best possible moment. So far, Eder Sarabia's men have lived up to their status in the Copa del Rey. They have beaten UD Los Garres (0-4), Quintanar del Rey (1-2 a.e.t.) and Eibar (0-1). However, things are set to get much more complicated with a trip to the home ground of one of the competition's outsiders.
