French side Nice face a monumental task in Lisbon on Tuesday night, as they attempt to overturn a two goal deficit in the second leg of their Champions League qualification tie against Benfica. In last week's first leg, Benfica showed their class with a dominant all round display and fully deserved their 2-0 victory. Franjo Ivanović opened the scoring for the Portuguese giants with a well-taken half volley on the hour mark, before a goalkeeping error from debutant Yehvann Diouf allowed Benfica substitute Florentino to double the lead in the final minutes.
Unsurprisingly, Benfica go into the second leg as huge favorites to progress. They have already landed the Portuguese Super Cup this season, thanks to a 0-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon last week, whilst their displays in the Club World Cup were largely encouraging, despite their last 16 defeat to eventual champions Chelsea.

Our Benfica Lisbon vs Nice Prediction
Nice were very poor in last week's first leg and it is hard to see them being able to overturn this tie. Benfica looked extremely comfortable at the Allianz Rivera, with the likes of Vangelis Pavlidis and Fredrik Aursnes causing Nice problems all evening. Given their two goal cushion, we expect Benfica to play conservatively on Tuesday night. Nice will have plenty of possession, but in our opinion, they lack the quality to make it count. We fully expect Benfica to progress with another comfortable victory.
Our prediction for Benfica vs Nice is: Benfica to win and under 2.5 goals.
