Ben Shelton of the United States is locked in a testy encounter with Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Boss Stuttgart Open.
Shelton grinded out a tough win over Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert 7-6(4) 7-5 to open his grass-court campaign in Stuttgart. The big-serving Shelton could only land 8 aces on Herbert’s side of the court, but still managed to hold all his serves. The American collected 37 points from the 45 first serves that connected. He scored 21 more points from his second serve,s while his only breakpoint conversion came in the 11th game of the second set that gave him a 6-5 lead and serve for the match.
As for Lehecka, he reached the quarterfinal of the Boss Stuttgart Open by taking down Benjamin Bonzi of France first 6-4 6-4 and then home crowd bet Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany 6-4 7-5. In his most recent win over Struff, Lehecka fired 11 aces and collected 31 points from his first serves. He also earned two crucial breakpoints, including one that put him ahead 6-5 to win the match in his next serve.
