One of the biggest games of the La Liga season so far takes place on Tuesday evening, as Barcelona host Atletico Madrid in a blockbuster clash at the Camp Nou.
Both teams are firmly in the running for the La Liga title, with Atletico just three points behind their rivals in the top four. With several crucial matchups coming up in the next few weeks, Tuesday's game looks like it will be pivotal in this season's title race.
Barca have held the edge over Atletico in recent meetings, winning seven of their last nine encounters between the two teams. When the teams last met, a first half strike from Ferran Torres gave Barca a 0-1 victory in last season's Copa Del Rey semi final second leg, following an extraordinary 4-4 draw in the first leg.

Barcelona - Atletico Madrid: Form Analysis
Barca's hard fought 3-1 victory over Alaves on Saturday evening was their fourth La Liga victory in a row. However, Hansi Flick's side have been found wanting against some of Europe's elite sides this season. They were defeated 2-1 by Real Madrid in October's El Clásico, whilst last week's 3-0 thumping at Chelsea highlighted the fact that the Barca defence is slightly below the standard required to cope with the best attacks in the Champions League.
Atletico coming on strong
Since claiming just two points in their opening three La Liga games, Atletico have gone on a remarkable run that has seen them pick up 29 points from their following 11 matches. As usual, Atletico's rock solid defence has been the key to their success. In their last six La Liga fixtures, Atletico have conceded just one goal and currently have the best overall defensive record in the Spanish top flight.

Midfielder Pedri came off the bench against Alaves to make his long awaited return from injury. However, Barca will be managing his gametime carefully over the next few weeks, so the Spanish midfielder is likely to remain a substitue on Tuesday evening. Fermin Lopez remains on the sidelines with a minor muscle issue, but defender Eric Garcia should be fit to start after coming off injured at half time on Saturday following a facial injury.
Concerns at the back for Atletico
Key defenders Marcos Llorente and Robin Le Normand remain out for Madrid. In their absence, Nicolas Gonzalez is likely to remain at left wing back, whilst Marc Pubill seems certain to retain his place in the backline after impressing at the weekend.
