The Baltimore Orioles will attempt to extend their win streak to five games in Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.
The Orioles have won their last four games, including Tuesday’s 5-1 win over the Mariners, to improve to 23-36, four games behind the No.4 team in the AL East, the 29-34 Boston Red Sox. Over the past 5 games, Baltimore has posted a 2.20 ERA with 10.6 strikeouts per game. And even though the Orioles continued to struggle offensively, their terrific pitching in the past few days has helped the team carve out of their most successful stretches this season.
The Mariners conceded the No.1 spot in the AL West to the 33-27 Houston Astros following Tuesday’s loss to the Orioles. Seattle (32-27) has seen its run production decline over the past five games, during which it has scored 3.2 runs per game on a .219 batting average. The Mariners’ pitching numbers were also down in the 5-game stretch, conceding a measly 4.96 ERA with their bullpen almost doubling that number at 8.59 ERA.
