After the Padres won their series 2-1 at Petco Park against the Dodgers, things didn't go well in the ensuing series. They allowed too many home runs to the Mariners in the series loss at T-Mobile Park. At Target Field, they succumbed in two games against the Twins and were unexpectedly defeated in the first two games of the contest against the Orioles.
With this, the Padres have once again slipped away from the Dodgers with a two-game lead for the division lead; to rescue the last of the series against the O's on Wednesday afternoon is a must for San Diego.
Unfortunately, in Game 1 of the series, the Padres were without star reliever Jason Adam due to a torn quadriceps tendon.
Meanwhile, the Orioles' rookies are busy trying to make a name for themselves; One of them is Jeremiah Jackson, who had a spectacular end to August and a furious start to September. He homered in each of his two games against the Padres to extend his hitting streak to 13 consecutive games.
