The Philadelphia Phillies will host the Baltimore Orioles for the second game of their three-game series on Tuesday, following a dominant 13-3 win in Monday’s opener. The victory continued Philadelphia’s strong run of form, bringing their record to 64-48 and extending their lead atop the NL East to 1.5 games.
The Phillies have now won three of their last four series and are on track to claim a fourth with one more win over the struggling Orioles. Monday’s performance was a complete offensive outburst, as Philadelphia took control early and never looked back. Meanwhile, the Orioles are reeling. With a 51-62 record, they sit at the bottom of the ultra-competitive AL East and are just 1-4 in their last five games after a hot stretch in which they went 5-0, including a series win against the division-leading Blue Jays.
Despite their poor showing in the opener, the Orioles have shown they can respond quickly, and they’ll be motivated to even the series. Their journey this season has been far from linear, alternating between promising flashes and extended slumps. If they can bounce back from Monday’s defeat, they’ll have a chance to salvage the series and regain some momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
