The Orioles' general manager commented after firing former manager Brandon Hyde that they were searching for the reasons for the Orioles' sharp decline in all aspects in the 2025 season.
Especially in terms of hitting, the Orioles, with many of the same names in their lineup, were one of the MLB's offensive powerhouses, but their numbers have declined to the point where they haven't been able to do even half of what they did in 2024.
The decline continued Tuesday in Milwaukee against the Brewers, where they were dominated and shut out for six innings by a rookie pitcher. Only Mountcastle managed two or more hits in the 2-5 loss. Holliday, Rutschman, and Henderson all went 1-for-4.
Sugano will be the Os' pitcher in Game 3 against the Brewers. He has managed to lower his ERA somewhat in recent outings and is now at 3.08.
