In 2024, after a strong season, the Orioles faced the Royals in the playoffs, dominated by their pitching staff. Already in 2025 they will meet again, but at Kauffman Stadium, with the Royals still not having won their first series of the season.
Seth Lugo had a less-than-stellar start to the season against the Guardians, allowing three runs in five innings in a game the Royals won, but he left without a decision. For the Royals, with a dominant game from Bubic, things had started well in Milwaukee, but in game 2 the offense from game 1 was nowhere to be seen, and then they lost the series with a squeeze play by the Brewers in another game where the Royals barely had 4 hits.
Witt Jr. went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, and with a .240 average, no home runs, and only three RBIs, it could be said that the superstar is having a slow start to the season.
The Orioles are also coming off a series loss to the Red Sox, where Crochet dominated them as he wished in Game 2. Morton didn't have a good outing in Game 3, allowing two-run home runs to Bregman and Campbell, which is why the O's record is now 3-4.
