Will Terrence Atmane’s fairy tale run take him into the quarterfinals of the 2025 Cincinnati Open.
On Thursday, Atmane will shoot for his first ATP 1000 semi-final against the world’s No.7 Holger Rune of Denmark at the 2025 Cincinnati Open.
Ranked outside the ATP top-100, Atmane has put together a sensational run in Cincinnati by beating some of the best hard-court players on the tour in one week. Atmane has eliminated Yoshihito Nishioka 6-2 6-2, Flavio Cobolli 6-4 3-6 7-6(5), Joao Fonseca 6-3 6-4 and world’s No.4 Taylor Fritz 3-6 7-5 6-3. The Frenchman improved his 2025 hard-court record to 24-14.
Meanwhile, Rune dismantled Frances Tiafoe 6-4 3-1 ret. to reach the quarterfinal of the Cincinnati Open. The Dane avenged his semifinal loss to Tiafoe a year ago by dominating the service battle. Rune captured 90 percent of his first serves to hold, except for one service game in the match. He also broke Tiafoe three times on 24 return points.
