The fourth round of the MLS season gets underway this weekend, the second game being Atlanta United and Philadelphia Union going head-to-head at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Both sides haven’t commenced the new season in an ideal fashion, both losing all three of their games to date, in turn both are sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table. Neither side have been able to make much headway offensively, producing one of the lowest number of goals in the league.
This will be Philadelphia’s first away game in three weeks, and they haven’t exactly made the most out of their four consecutive home games in two competitions, losing their last three as well as failing to score in two, so it’s not like they’ll be heading out on the road with tons of confidence. Moreover, they finished the previous campaign in poor away form.

Don’t pay too much attention to The Union’s recent Champions Cup games, winning 12-0 on aggregate, since this was a small side from Trinidad and Tobago. Last time out, they played a better team from Mexico, in which they failed to score and finished 1-0.
Additionally, towards the end of last season, Philadelphia Union’s away league games were pretty stagnant, regularly finishing with just one or two goals. Their away games were the lowest in terms of over 2.5 goals scored, with 35% - very low in MLS standards.
Realistically, both have started the season not creating too much, so it’s hard to see them turning it around drastically. Therefore, the early odds for a relatively low-scoring game are looking generous.
