=14.0ptThe Washington Commanders can clinch the final playoff spot in the NFC today with a win over the Atlanta Falcons. At 10-5, they hold a 2-game lead over the Seattle Seahawks for that spot. The Falcons are also playing for a playoff spot and divisional title. Holding the current tie-breaker over the Bucs, both teams are 8-7 on the season. The Commanders are riding a 3-game winning streak with their latest win coming over the 12-3 Philadelphia Eagles. They knocked Jalen Hurts out of that game and overcame 5 turnovers to get the win. For the Falcons, they are coming off back-to-back wins and rookie QB, Michael Penix Jr., had a so-so start in the last game. He completed 66% of his passes for just over 200 yards but did throw an interception. Luckily for him, the Falcons defense scored twice, forced 3 turnovers, and held the Giants to just 7 points in the 34-7 win. It will be interesting to see if the defense plays as well in this matchup against a Commanders offense that ranks 4th in the league in scoring (28.8ppg). If the Falcons defense is to be successful, it will need to bottle up the run game of Washington that is currently averaging 152.7 yards per game, which is 3rd in the NFL.
