If there was ever a team that needed a ‘get-right’ game, it’s the 2024 Atlanta Falcons. So, this week’s Monday Night Football road trip to Las Vegas to take on the injury-riddled Raiders at Allegiant Stadium couldn’t come at a better time (kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET).
Kirk Cousins was supposed to be the quarterback the Falcons needed to put it all together on the offensive side of the ball. At times, Cousins and the offense has looked good, but not over the last month. Over Atlanta’s last four games (all losses), Cousins has thrown zero touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Consequently, they’ve lost control of the NFC South and may need help to make the playoffs. But against a Raiders team that has been decimated by injuries—especially at quarterback – the Falcons will not have an excuse. Aidan O’Connell is questionable to play; Desmond Ritter would get the start if he can’t. Maxx Crosby has already been ruled out. Several Raiders are listed as questionable.
However, when an outcome looks a little too certain as this one does, it is fair to wonder if this could turn into a ‘trap game’ for Atlanta.

The Falcons will win this one either because Kirk Cousins breaks out of his funk against a poor Raiders team or despite Cousins and his struggles. Why? Because the Raiders don’t have a quarterback. Aidan O’Connell is hurt and may not play. If he can’t go, Vegas will have to turn to Desmond Ridder. Neither quarterback has played especially well when they have been in a game. But the emergence of a possible running game for the Raiders (via Sincere McCormick) could give the Vikings problems. We expect Cousins to make the most of his late-season ‘get-right’ game. Atlanta will win this one easily.
