Washington Mystics (9-9) and Atlanta Dream (12-7) will meet on Thursday night at CareFirst Arena. The Mystics will want to make it two wins on the bounce after barely scrapping past the Fire last Sunday to end their two-game winless run. They fought hard to edge out the Fire 124-123 in OT with Michaela Onyenwere and Sonia Citron scoring 30 and 32 points, respectively. It was a game that they could’ve lost against a superior opponent.
Atlanta Dream, on the other hand, have slightly run out of gas in their recent assignments. The Dream lost three straight matches, though they still lead the Eastern Conference standings by 0.5 games over the Liberty. The worst part is that all those defeats were on the road against the Valkyries (twice) and the struggling Storm. So far, the Dream are 6-5 on the road, highlighting a team that struggles to manage expectations away from home this season.
