The Braves, who had no chance of making the playoffs, had already tripped up the Mets in their previous series, winning two important games against the New York team, one of them by scoring 11 runs, overcoming a 0-6 deficit in the top of the third inning in Game 2. Again in Game 2, but in their series against the Guardians in Cleveland, the Braves, having once again recovered Acuña from his recent injury, did put on another batting feast, frustrating the Guardians' pursuit of the Yankees' last Wild Card spot.

The Braves won Game 2 10-1; the Venezuelan star went 2-for-5 batting third, Ozuna also had two hits, and Harris also went 2-for-5 in a hot moment of his season; one of his hits was a 3-run home run. Harris had hit a key grand slam in Queens' last series.

With this, the Braves have a respectable four-game winning streak heading into Sunday's early game against the Guardians, where Atlanta pitcher Erick Fedde, acquired from St. Louis, will have a 4-12 record, a 5.40 ERA, and a 1.48 WHIP.
