The Atlanta Braves will face the Arizona Diamondbacks today in Game Two of a three-game weekend series at Chase Field in Phoenix. Fans can follow the action once the game gets underway at 8:10 p.m. EST. Atlanta got out on top of the Diamondbacks early yesterday with a trio of runs in the top of the second. That ended up being all they needed, but they tacked on two more in the sixth and three more in the eighth to make the final 8-2. Chris Sale gave the Braves five solid innings (five hits, one earned run, four strikeouts, and two walks).
Arizona will look to Merrill Kelly to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today. The right-hander is 3-1 on the season in five starts with a 4.73 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Since getting lit up by the Yankees in his second start for nine runs (3 2/3 innings), he’s allowed just four total earned runs. Atlanta will hand the ball to Grant Holmes to start the day. He’s gone 2-1 in five appearances this season with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. However, he’s had some issues with control; he’s given up four walks in three of five starts.
