Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will contest for a fourth consecutive Grand Slam semifinal appearance against Laura Siegemund of Germany on Tuesday at Center Court.

As expected, Sabalenka goes deep at a Grand Slam event again. She defeated Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-4, 7-6(4) to reach the quarterfinals for the 10th straight time, not counting the 2024 Wimbledon Open which she skipped due to injury. Despite being taken to a tiebreaker for a third consecutive game, Sabalenka managed to clinch a spot in the final eight without dropping a set. The world’s No.1 got the edge over Mertens by winning 84 percent of her serves and converting 3 breakpoint opportunities.

Siegemund is a surprise entry in the quarterfinals of this year’s Wimbledon Open, coming out of her bracket still scatheless after posting massive wins against younger and more prominent names on the WTA Tour. The 37-year-old German delivered a quartet of impressive wins over Peyton Stearns 6-4 6-2, Leylah Fernandez 6-2 6-3, Madison Keys 6-3 6-3 and Solona Sierra 6-3 6-2 to become one of the eight remaining competitors in the ladies’ singles draw.
