Twice an Australian Open winner, Sabalenka will now fancy her chances of regaining the crown that she last wore in 2024. Elena Rybakina has previously reached the fiinal of the Australian Open, losing to Sabalenka back in 2023, and she's a top competitor, a player who has looked in hot form at the start of 2026, so we shouldn't be massively surprised if this is a tough match for Sabalenka. As the world number one and after beating such an in-form player in straight sets, Aryna Sabalenka was always going to be the favorite for this clash, and I'm certainly not saying that the four-time Grand Slam winner should be the underdog, though I am saying that she could be a narrower favorite against a player of Rybakina's quality.
If we're being honest, Rybakina has had the harder run to this final and she's performed with serious credit, beating the likes of Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula in straight sets. Off the back of such strong efforts, the world number five should be bursting with confidence, while she has a very positive record against Sabalenka, so she could very easily make the Belarusian work harder than the early odds suggest. At odds of -161, she's worth betting on to do just that by, at the very least, avoiding a straight-set defeat.
