Felix Auger-Aliassime will lock horns with Arthur Rinderknech of France in the third round of the 2025 Cincinnati Open.
Former top-10 Auger-Aliassime is aiming for a deeper run in Cincinnati following a second-round exit at the Canadian Open two weeks ago. The Canadian, who rose to a world No.6 ranking in 2023, passed his first test in the tournament by topping Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-2 7-6(3). Auger-Aliassime stormed to a first-set win before overcoming a comeback attempt from the Argentine in the second frame. Rinderknech also earned a slot in the round of 32 at Cincinnati after pulling off an upset over the former world’s No.2 Casper Ruud 6-7(5) 6-4 6-2. After winning 100 percent of his serves in his 6-3, 6-3 win over Nuno Borges in the first round, Rinderknech sustained his impeccable form on the serves, winning 49 points on the first serves and adding 13 aces to yield one service break. The Frenchman also converted all four breakpoints to complete the come-from-behind win.
