Arthur Fils of France squares it off with Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in the second round of the 2025 Rome Masters on Friday.
After reaching the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo and semifinals in Barcelona, Fils’ rampaging momentum hit a speed bump when he lost to Francisco Comesana of Argentina 6-7, 4-6 in the second round of the 2025 Mutua Madrid Open. In Rome, Fils hopes he can regain the form that had made him such a force in the first three weeks of his French Open buildup.
Griekspoor, on the other hand, secured a spot in the second round after rallying past Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia 4-6 6-3 6-0 on Wednesday. Griekspoor, who lost to eventual finalist Jack Draper 3-6, 4-6 in Madrid, pulled off the come-from-behind win by sticking in 19 aces and capturing five breakpoints.
