The Community Shield pits the EPL Champions against the FA Cup winners as Arsenal take on Manchester City. Matches between these two sides are always ferocious and entertaining and so we should be in for a cracker of a match. It will be interesting to see which players start this game. Many of Man City's World Cup stars only returned to training on Wednesday, including new signing Elliot Anderson. However, we expect to see the Man City new boy start this one, with Tijjani Reijnders seemingly on his way out of the club. Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Nico O' Reilly are also likely to be in the starting lineup, despite missing all of the Citizen's preseason games. Rodri has yet to train at all since returning from the World Cup, and with huge speculation surrounding his future it's unlikely he'll make an appearance.
Bruno Guimaraes should make his full debut for the Gunners. There are injury concerns with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka and neither are likely to be risked as we head towards the start of the Premier League campaign. William Saliba will certainly miss this one through injury.
Calling a winner in this one is tough. It's likely to be a close game, and one we wouldn't be surprised to see head to penaties (there's no Extra Time in the Community Shield). That being said, we're expecting a few goals in it. There's only been one goalless draw between the two in the last six head-to-heads, coming back in 2024. Only twice has one or both sides failed to score in meetings between the two during the same period. A 2-1 win for either side? Possibly, but for our prediction we're certainly expecting both sides to find the back of the net here.
