The biggest game of the Premier League weekend sees second place Arsenal host Manchester City in a blockbuster clash at the Emirates. After finishing in the runners up position in each of the last three seasons, Mikel Arteta will be desperate for his side to go one better this time around. However, last month's defeat at Liverpool has already put the Gunners on the back foot and they cannot afford to drop any more points against their title rivals.
Pep Guardiola's City rebuild is slowly gathering pace and last weekend's 3-0 defeat of Manchester United was comfortably their best display of the season. Star striker Erling Haaland bagged two goals in that game and looks to be in the form of his life following a relatively disappointing 2024/2025 campaign. If Haaland can continue his remarkable goalscoring form (he has six goals in five games so far this season), then City will have every chance of mounting a serious title bid.

Arsenal - Manchester City: Form Analysis
Arsenal have looked imperious at times this season, especially at the Emirates, where they have scored eight goals without reply in their opening two games. New signing Viktor Gyökeres has made a fast start to his Gunners career, with three goals in those two victories. Mikel Arteta's main injury problems are in forward areas, as Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are both long term absentees. But with Bakayo Saka back to full fitness, the Gunners' boss still has a huge amount of attacking options at his disposal. Noni Madueke has impressed in his last two starts, whilst Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli both came off the bench to score against Bilbao in midweek. Arteta is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his starting eleven for Sunday, but whatever he decides, the Gunners are sure to go into the game with a formidable attacking lineup.
City missing key players
City will go into Sunday's game without forwards Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush, who are both still recovering from recent injuries. Defenders John Stones and Rayan Aït-Nouri are also injury absentees, but Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovačić may be fit enough to make the bench following an Achilles injury suffered over the summer.
