by Simon Day in Champions League Picks
The top two teams in the Champions League standings to head-to-head at the Emirates on Wednesday evening, as Premier League leaders Arsenal host Bundesliga table toppers Bayern Munich.
Arsenal have been in sensational form over the last three months and have opened up a healthy six point lead in the Premier League table whilst also maintaining a 100% record in Europe after four Matchdays.
Whilst the Gunners' success has been built on a rock solid defence, Bayern's fantastic start to the season has largely been due to a world class attacking unit led by England skipper Harry Kane.
Wednesday night's game will be the 15th ever match-up between Arsenal and Bayern, with the German giants holding a comfortable 8-3 head-to-head advantage.
The teams last met in the 2023/2024 Champions League quarter finals, when a second-half strike from Joshua Kimmich gave Bayern a 3-2 victory.

Arsenal - Bayern Munich: Form Analysis
Arsenal's comprehensive 4-1 victory over Spurs on Sunday means that Mikel Arteta's side have now gone three months since their last defeat. During that time, the Gunners have won seven and drawn two of their Premier League games, conceding just five goals in the process. They have been equally as efficient in Europe, winning all four of their Champions League fixtures so far and keeping clean sheets in all of those victories.
Goals galore for Bayern
Bayern have racked up an astonishing 41 goals in just 11 Bundesliga matches so far this season and, like Arsenal, they have a six point advantage at the top of their domestic table. They also have the same 100% record in the Champions League as the Gunners, with the highlight of their campaign so far coming on Matchday Four when they won away at champions PSG, despite playing the majority of the game with just ten men.

Arsenal & Bayern Munich Squad Analysis
Arsenal's superb start to the campaign is even more impressive when you take into account their lengthy injury list. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel are currently out injured, whilst Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres are rated as no better than 50/50 to be fit enough to feature on Wednesday. On the plus side, winger Noni Madueke made a successful return to the side on Sunday and is in contention for a starting place against Bayern.
Musiala still out for Bayern
Jamal Musiala remains a long term injury absence for Bayern and is likely to be out until at least January. Alphonso Davies is also on the sidelines with a minor fitness issue, whilst forward Luis Diaz misses the game following his red card against PSG. In Diaz's absence, teenage star Lennart Karl could be in line for a place in the starting eleven following his goal in the 6-2 win over Freiburg at the weekend.

Our Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Prediction
These are the two hottest teams in Europe right now and are very evenly matched, but we are tipping the Gunners to make their home advantage count on Wednesday evening.
Mikel Arteta's side are stacked in all positions, so despite their long injury list, they still have an array of world-class talent to call on, so will be seriously hard to stop this season.
That being said, stopping this Bayern side from scoring has proved an impossible task this season, so we are tipping the Germans to grab at least one goal.
Our prediction for Arsenal vs Bayern Munich is: Arsenal to win and both teams to score.
