The Big 12 Tournament concludes today with the championship game featuring the Arizona Wildcats (22-11, 14-6) and the No. 2 Houston Cougars (29-4, 19-1). Tipoff for this conference tournament title game is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET with coverage via ESPN and ESPN+.
When Arizona beat No. 3 Texas Tech on Feb. 8, 82-73, the Wildcats had the look of a potential contender with a 17-6, 11-1 record. But then Arizona went on to go 5-5 the rest of the way, ending the regular season with a loss to Kansas, 83-76. They avenged that loss with an 88-77 win in the quarterfinals over the Jayhawks and followed that game up with an 86-80 victory over Texas Tech in the semifinals. As for Houston, the Cougars have been an unstoppable force all season, their lone conference loss a one-point defeat vs. Texas Tech in OT (Feb. 1). They dispatched Colorado in the quarterfinal round 77-68, which they followed with a much more dominant win over a red-hot BYU team in the semifinals Friday. Houston took a 41-20 lead into the break and cruised to an easy 74-54 victory. The Cougars held BYU to 31.7% shooting from the floor.

Arizona gave Houston a pretty good fight in their regular season matchup (62-58, Feb. 15). However, Houston will likely be without the services of J'Wan Roberts. The senior forward is nursing a sprained ankle suffered in the game vs. Colorado. But even without Roberts, Houston’s defense will lock Arizona’s offense down and lead the Cougars to a win. However, while I like Houston to cover (-6.5), I like the UNDER even more.
