The Arizona State Sun Devils (10-7, 1-3 Big 12) the UH Cougars (16-1, 4-0 Big 12) their first conference loss of the season today when they faceoff at the Fertitta Center in Houston, TX. Tipoff for this Big 12 showdown is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST, with coverage provided by ESPN.

At one point in the season, the Sun Devils appeared to be a team with some potential to contend this season, at least at the conference level. After beating Santa Clara on December 13, 82-79, they were 9-2. But then they lost four in a row: by 13 to UCLA, by 3 to Oregon State, by 6 to Colorado, and got crushed by BYU, 104-76. They got back on track briefly with a win over Kansas State, 87-84. They last played on Wednesday when they visited No. 1 Arizona and lost 89-82. Today’s game against Houston will be their fourth against a ranked team; they lost the previous three. As for Houston, the Cougars entered the season as one of the favorites to win the national championship and the Big 12 and remain so (although not the favorite). Their only loss of the season came against No. 17 Tennessee on November 25, 76-73. They have since won ten in a row, including a 4-0 start in Big 12 play.
