One of the breakout stars during this year’s North American hard-court season, Aoi Ito will take on Janice Tjen in the final qualification match for the 2025 US Open Championships.

Ito barged into the final qualifying match after gutting two consecutive three-set victories over Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-4 5-7 6-3 and Guiomar Zuleta De Reales 6-0 1-6 6-1. Ito has improved her win tally to 10 since kicking off her North American hard-court swing at the Canadian Open, where she stunned Jasmine Paolini 2-6 7-5 7-6(5) in the second round. Ito also qualified for the main draw in Cincinnati, where she again made it to the round of 32 by topping No.27 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1 4-6 6-4.

Tjen booked her slot in the final qualifying match with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Maja Chwalinska. Tjen, who also ousted Varvara Lepechenko 6-3 6-1 in the first qualification match, conceded only one service break by winning 72 percent of her first serves. She also broke Chwalinska three times behind 26 return points.
