2025 Wimbledon Open runner-up Amanda Anisimova is in for a tricky third-round match against Anna Kalinskaya of Russia at the 2025 Cincinnati Open on Sunday.
After a spirited run to the final of the 2025 Wimbledon Open, Anisimova began her North American hard-court campaign with a fourth-round finish at the 2025 Canadian Open, a year after reaching the final of the same tournament. In Cincinnati, Anisimova moved on to the round of 32 without taking a step on the court after her scheduled opponent, Léolia Jeanjean, gave her a walkover win.
Kalinskaya started her North American hard-court campaign on a strong note, finishing runner-up to Leylah Fernandez at the Mubadala Citi Washington Open. She continued her impressive play in Montreal, picking two more wins before falling to Elina Svitolina in the third round, 1-6, 1-6. In Cincinnati, Kalinskaya booked his spot in the third round with a hard-earned win over Peyton Stearns 7-6(4) 4-6 6-1. After blowing the chance to close out the match in two sets, Kalinskaya unleashed a furious rally in the third set to put Stearns away for good.
