WTA veteran Anastasia Potapova of Russia takes on Canadian rising star Victoria Mboko in the first round of the 2025 Mubadala City Open on Monday in Washington D.C.
Potapova will begin her North American hard-court campaign on Monday when she faces one of the hottest young players on the tour, Victoria Mboko. The Russian skipped the 2025 Wimbledon Open after sustaining an injury during one of the grass-court warmup tournaments. Now back on the tour, Potapova seeks to regain her confidence back and gain some ground in the weeks leading up to the 2025 US Open.
Mboko takes her promising season to the Nation’s Capital, where she gets the opportunity to make her mark on the hard court. Fresh off a second-round appearance at Wimbledon, the teenager returns to the surface where she’s deadlier. In 12 hard-court matches this year, Mboko has only lost once.
